Eligibility Requirements and Application Process

The SIMS Program is open to any science, engineering, or mathematics student who meets all of the following requirements:
- Must intend to major in the sciences, engineering, or mathematics at UCSB.
- Must intend to enroll as an undergraduate at UCSB for Fall 2008.
- Must be a US citizen or permanent resident
All applicants must complete all of the following:

- Statement of Interest explaining why you are interested in pursuing a degree in science. In particular, we would like to know about your interest in science/engineering and your ability to work with groups of people. BE SPECIFIC - for example, you might discuss how a particular experience or person inspired you to study science. Your statement should be typed, and at most one page long.
- Copy of your Unofficial High School Transcript. If you have taken college courses, please include those transcripts.
- Letter of Recommendation from a science/mathematics instructor or employer who is familiar with your scientific skills. You may send up to 2 letters, but only 1 is required. An electronic version of the form letter may be downloaded here: DOWNLOAD Rec Form (pdf file) or DOWNLOAD Rec Form (word document). Letter of Recommendation may be must be enclosed in a signed and sealed envelope with your application materials.
