The Burnham Scholarship Program seeks to encourage more young students to recognize engineering and the applied sciences as a viable and exciting career path. This program will:

  • Provide a 5-year scholarship award for talented, motivated UCSB undergraduates, majoring in engineering, mathematics, physics, chemistry, or biological sciences, who will benefit substantially from additional encouragement and financial support. The annual award amount is an $11,000 stipend.
  • Provide role modeling and mentorship for students through personal contact with Dan Burnham, and through affiliation with the "Expanding Pathways to Science, Engineering and Mathematics (EPSEM)" program, which is administered by the California NanoSystems Institute (CNSI) at UCSB.

The Burnham Engineering and Applied Science Scholarship Fund is established through a generous gift from Dan Burnham. Dan Burnham is honored to be associated with UCSB in this special way and to have the opportunity to inspire and support talented young people. Dan Burnham recognizes that technology and engineering are driving forces of our economic vitality and is pleased to be able to advance these areas through educating tomorrow's leaders.
